Knocked-Out Tooth

Find the tooth and pick it up by the crown (the chewing surface), never the root
Rinse gently with water if dirty — do not scrub, scrape, or remove any tissue fragments
Try to reinsert the tooth into the socket and hold it in place by gently biting down on a clean cloth
If you can’t reinsert it, place the tooth in a cup of milk, saliva, or a tooth preservation kit (available at pharmacies)

Severe Toothache

Rinse your mouth with warm salt water to reduce bacteria and soothe irritation
Floss gently around the affected tooth to remove any trapped food debris
Apply a cold compress to the outside of your cheek to reduce swelling (20 minutes on, 20 minutes off)
